The studio is established in January 2026, following Rafn’s decision to sell his 50% ownership of Third Nature Architects and create a new independent platform for his work. The move builds on more than 20 years of practice across architecture, landscape, urban development and climate adaptation, while opening a new direction for the years ahead.
January 2026 marks year 1 of the 25 years leading to 2050, a quarter century that will reveal whether the global climate commitments made for mid-century can be translated into meaningful change. Rafn Studio enters this period with the ambition to build a distinct position within regenerative architecture and formed nature, and to help shape the projects, methods and narratives that this transition will require.

As co-founder of Third Nature Architects since 2011, Rafn has helped shape a body of work centered on climate-responsive cities, landscape-based infrastructure and the integration of architecture and natural systems. Before founding Third Nature, he served as Head of Design at SLA.
Rafn Studio carries this experience forward with a renewed focus on the relationship between buildings, landscapes, resources and living systems with the hope to to heal broken environments and push for positive change.
