Danish Arts Foundation supports Rafn Studio

A grant from the Danish Arts Foundation / Statens Kunstfond supports the continued development of Rafn Studio’s work. The support has been awarded to founder Flemming Rafn.

April 1, 2026

The foundation of Rafn Studio grows from a difficult realisation: many of the solutions needed for a more viable future already exist, yet they are rarely implemented with the scale, consistency or urgency the challenges demand. The task is therefore also to understand why change remains slow, and to stay with complex dilemmas long enough for new ideas, connections and imaginaries to emerge.

The grant will support the development of a practice that investigates the systems behind the places we inhabit: the flows of water, materials, energy, ecology and land use that often remain invisible in conventional architecture. By making these relationships legible, architecture can engage more directly with the conditions that shape both human and more-than-human life.

With 2050 approaching as an increasingly concrete horizon, Rafn Studio will use the support to explore how architecture, societal systems and land management can be brought into closer alignment.
